Chancellor
Everybody is familiar with the term chancellor as he/she is the person who leads some college or university and this can be either the executive of that institute or the ceremonial head, depending on the campus of that institute. In most of the states or the nations, the chancellor is usually known as the titular non – resident head of the institute, either the college or the university. Moreover, the chancellor of any institute may also be found serving as the chairman of any of the governing body and if it doesn’t happen, then the duty of the chancellor is usually held by some chair-man who is also known as the pro – chancellor. In so many countries all over the world, the chancellor of the institute is also known by the other names of president, rector or the principal.
Vice Chancellor
The chief executive of the college or the university that works under the chancellor of that institute is known as the vice chancellor. Most of the times, the institutes with some of the additional responsibilities are more likely to have the vice chancellors, so that they can help the administration of the institute anyway they can. However, in so many universities, there is more than one vice chancellor that subordinates the chancellor in every possible way they can. These vice chancellors are provided tasks by the chancellor of the institute to handle.

In the UK, and in most of the Commonweath countries, the roles are different. The Vice Chancellor is the executive head of a University, while the Chancellor is just the titular head of a University and has nothing to do with day to day operations.
