Weather vs. Climate

Weather plays an important role in our daily lives, since most of our day to day activities are planned according to the forecasting
created by the meteorological department for a specific moment. Weather
is the intricate phenomenon, which shows
changes over very short amounts of time, in the atmospheric condition at a certain region. On the other hand, Climate
indicates the weather pattern of a particular location, taken over quite a

Weather vs. Climate

Often perceived as being the one
and the same thing, these two terms are actually
different which are closely linked to
each other. There is difference between
weather and climate, regarding the time length and the factors affecting them.
Thus, read the article to have a better
understanding of the two terms.

Meaning Weather is regular atmospheric
condition of a particular area, as regards temperature, humidity, wind speed,
Climate alludes to standard
routine of weather of a particular
location, taken over more than 25 years.
What is it? Minute by minute state of air
in an area.
Average weather in a region.
Represents What will be the state of air in a geographical place, over short span. In what way setting acts over typically
long period.
Variation Varies constantly. Does not change constantly.

What is Weather?

To put it simply,
weather denotes the daily atmospheric condition, concerning a variety of
elements like temperature, precipitation, moisture, cloudiness, wind velocity
and air pressure. It expresses the position of the air at a predetermined
location and time, in amounts, i.e. cold or hot, cloudy or clear, dry or moist.

It always changes, i.e. hour after hour and day after day.
Weather forecasting is the challenging task, as many times, it happens that on
a sunny day, suddenly heavy rains occur or the sunshine occurs immediately
after heavy rains.

The Sun is the basic
cause of fluctuations in weather since it’s the primary source of energy to
earth. The energy absorbed and emitted by the earth’s atmosphere, surface and
oceans have a fantastic part to play in ascertaining weather of the area.
Additionally, winds and storms also result in the changes in weather.

What is Climate?

The term ‘climate’, is
used to mean weather trends at a certain area, over the course of several years.
It’s the statistical information of weather that suggests that common
atmospheric pattern, in an area more than decades, i.e. it will not indicate
the weather changes occurring weekly or daily. So, once we observe the temperature of a nation is greatest, then it means the climate of the
place is extremely hot.

The climate of a place is greatly
affected by two factors, which are temperature and precipitation, and other
factors influencing it includes wind speed, the sunshine, precipitation timing,
humidity and so forth. The standard length of time used to ascertain the
climate of an area is 30 years.

key Differences

  1. Weather is the routine atmospheric condition of a particular
area, as regards temperature, humidity, windspeed,
etc.. On the other hand, climate suggests
the standard routine of weather of a particular
    location, taken over a time.
  2. Weather is the moment-wise
state of the air of a geographical area. As against this, the climate is the
average weather in a specific region.
  3. Weather is the state of the
air in a specific region, over a brief period. Unlike climate that refers to
the way, atmostphere behaves, over the long period.
  4. Weather of a location can
change in several hours or even in few
minutes, i.e. it changes often. However, the climate of a location takes a long time to change, and thus it does not change
  5. Weather is greatly affected by factors such as humidity,
temperature, air pressure, cloudiness, precipitation, etc.. To the contrary, temperature and precipitation are the two important factors that influence climate.
  6. While the weather is
assessed for a brief period, i.e. for day
per week from the meteorological department.
    Conversely, the climate is assessed
over the course of several years.
  7. The study of weather is called meteorology whereas climatic study is termed as climatology.

To sum up, we can say that weather
is nothing but the way the particular area feels at a particular moment. The data for ascertaining weather are listed at a
particular moment. On the flip side, the climate is the overall weather at a particular location, i.e. the aggregate of
weather components listed during a long
