Skin diseases are not that easy to avoid, and therefore they get an irritating source of body and makes it look uglier. At the same time, any disease is dangerous and leads to something serious if proper care does not become available. The two illnesses discussed here are Purpura and Ecchymosis. The main difference between these is that first one is the condition where the human body had discolored sports such as purple or red color that do not tighten when pressure applied to them. The latter one is the condition where the human body has discoloration of the skin that is caused by the bleeding taking place inside the surface.

What is Purpura?
Purpura gets defined as the condition where the human body has discolored sports such as purple or red color that do not tighten when the pressure gets applied to them. Such spots become visible on the skin due to several reasons most commonly because of the bleeding of skin on the internal surface of the body that is secondary to the vasculitis or because of the lacking of vitamin C. They are also known as blood spots o skin hemorrhages and are mostly purple in color. Such spots can appear on any surface of the human body but mostly happens on the lower side or mucous membranes that include the ones present within the mouth. The main reason for it occurring is that small blood vessels inside the bodies burst open and result in bleeding, this all happens under the skin so does not cause any harm, since the layers are from each other. Neither will they leak blood to the internal organs or outside but just show spots on the area that has burst. The size of these spots is not particular, for some people it may be small dots for others bigger. There is no cause of harm if such dots appear but in extreme cases, it may result in blood clotting, therefore, consulting the doctor is critical in such circumstances. Some of the other reasons because of which such spots appear on the skin include bone marrow transplant, cancer and chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, hormone replacement, and the use of particular medicines.
What is Ecchymosis?
Ecchymosis gets defined as the condition where the human body has discoloration of the skin that caused the bleeding taking place inside the surface and caused by bruising. The color of skin, in this case, does show interesting phenomenon; there it changes to either red or blue and results due to a medical condition that may be common among people. Blood gets leaked from the blood vessels that become rupture and leak fluid in the capillaries. It is sometimes called the subcutaneous purpura that has a diameter of just one centimeter and is different from a bruise. It also becomes known as a type of hematoma that is larger than 10mm or more than 1 cm in diameter. Mostly, people confuse it as a bruise and do not give it much importance although it is dangerous if occurs to most parts of the body. In all cases, some symptoms will result in this happening and may range from a small infection to some serious issue related to the disease. Some of the main symptoms include the onset of skin that changes into red or purple colored. A patch on the body that has a diameter of more than 1 cm. The showing of pain on these spots, although it is not common in all patients. Inflammation of the skin around these parts depending on the damage that occurs to the tissue. It also gets extended to other regions of the body if the severity increases over time.
Key Differences between Purpura and Ecchymosis
- Purpura gets defined as the condition where the human body had discolored sports such as purple or red color that do not tighten when pressure applied to them. Ecchymosis gets defined as the condition where the human body has discoloration of the skin that gets caused by the bleeding taking place inside the surface and caused by bruising.
- Purpura often gets confused with a form of blood clotting on the body whereas Ecchymosis gets confused as a bruising on the body.
- Ecchymosis gets extended to other parts of the body if the severity increases over time. Purpura does not get spread to other regions of the body but changes into darker form when more severity occurs.
- Purpura shows on the body in purple or red color whereas ecchymosis shows on the body in red or blue color.
- The Central action of purpura is that small blood vessels inside the bodies burst open and result in bleeding that occurs under the skin. The main effect of ecchymosis is that blood gets leaked from the blood vessels that become rupture and leak fluid in the capillaries.
- Purpura sport is smaller in size and range to around 3 mm whereas the spots due to ecchymosis are larger and range from 10 mm to more than 1 cm.
