Laws and Ethics are guidelines and regulations. Both relate to each other but are also different from each other. Ethics are the moral values and principles that are adapted socially from the surrounding.

Laws are the rules and regulations that are set by the authorities or government and are must to be followed otherwise penalties and punishments may be the consequences.  Disobeying laws may get you in penalties, fine or punishment but there are no penalties, fine or punishment for not obeying ethics. Laws are made by the competent authorities based upon the ethics of the society and other demands. Both laws and ethics may conflict with each other. Both of them are important from maintaining peace and stability in a society.
