Comic book enthusiasts have long discussed the rivalry between two of Spider-Man’s most infamous foes, the Green Goblin and the Hobgoblin. Though both characters share similarities, they are distinctly different. Origins:
The Green Goblin made his debut in “The Amazing Spider-Man” issue #14 in 1964, created by comic legends Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. While Hobgoblin is more reserved and level-headed, he is still a dangerous adversary. He is not driven by ego, but rather the greed for power, and cares only for himself.
Strengths:
Green Goblin possesses superhuman strength and endurance, along with his enhanced intelligence that allows him to create advanced weapons of mass destruction. He also has a vast fortune to fund his criminal enterprises, which makes him a force to be reckoned with.
Hobgoblin uses his intellect and cunning to plan and execute ruthless criminal schemes, and has the ability to see through Spider-Man’s web slinging abilities. He also has a lighter version of the Green Goblin’s super-strength and endurance, and has an arsenal of high-tech weapons.
Weaknesses:
Both the Green Goblin and Hobgoblin have their fair share of weaknesses. Green Goblin’s unstable state has made him vulnerable to Spider-Man’s emotional and mental attacks. His psyche is deeply damaged by his inner turmoil, and he has a love-hate relationship with Spider-Man.
